I love this quote...

I was looking through The Great Gatsby, one of my favorite books, and I came across a quote that I really love:

"Whenever you feel like criticizing any one...just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had."
- F. Scott Fitzgerald

It just rememinded me of one of my New Years resolutions which is not judge those around me. I have a big problem with judging people, especially at the beginning of the semester. I have been struggling with this ever since I have been here at BYU-Idaho. When I came here I thought that it was going to be some sort of Utopia where everyone was going to be like me. I thought that everyone would be such good examples to me and that you could just feel the Spirit from everyone. It was such a big eye opener when I realized that it wasn't like that.

This quote just rings so true to me and it makes me so thankful for my parents. I just don't think that they get enough credit for how well they have raised 5 children. I really believe that all the people in the world haven't had the advantages that I have had. Not all of the people here on this campus had parents that pushed them to do their best, but still loved them when they didn't. Not everyone had parents that gave them the love and the guidance that they needed instead of the silly things that they wanted. I just feel like I came across this quote to help me to remember how truly blessed I was and still am because of the advantages that my parents gave me. I hope that I can remember this quote the next time that I want to judge someone.

Look what Nick did!

So Nick came home last night and before he came into the room he said..."It's not as bad as it looks!" Nick always comes home with new cuts and bruises and it breaks my heart. So of course when I see the HUGE cut on his forehead I think the worst and start to cry. I got a better look at it and it is really only a scrape, but it looks like a nasty cut. We put some anibiotic cream on it and he says that it doesn't hurt, so I hope that it heals well. I hope that he will be more careful from now on.

New Crib

Today we picked up our new crib for the baby's room. It only took us about 20 minutes to put it together, I was worried it would take us forever. It looks great and goes well with our redskins theme. The only thing we're missing is a mattress and a baby!

Cleaning WEEK!

I have been trying to clean the house all week and I feel like I have gotten no where. Before this week I have just been to lazy to clean, but Nick took off last Thursday and cleaned the house while I was at school. It was nice to come home to a clean kitchen and living room, but I felt awful that he had to be the one to clean. I am very old fashion and I believe that men go to work and women clean and cook for their husbands. When I don't have the house clean at the end of the night when Nick comes home from work, I feel like I didn't do my part. This week I just got tired of not doing my part and feeling bad everytime he came home, so I have been making myself clean. I have found that once I get started, it's a lot easier to keep cleaning. So, eventhough I have been cleaning all this week and it still feels messy, I feel better when Nick comes home. When it is time to go to bed, I feel like I did a good days work and that I deserve a good sleep. I hope that I can keep up with my cleaning and actually get the house so completey clean. I better get started now!

Surprise!

The food!

Ryley ready for the party!

Chris and Laura and Nick with his birthday Coke!

All of Nick's friends from work came too!

Nick opening his presents with help from Ryely!

So I threw a suprise birthday party for Nick a couple of weeks ago and I was very scared that everything would turn out to be a mess...I got Nick up early that morning to get him out of the house. Anna had stayed the night so that she could set up the decorations and food while I took Nick out for a birthday lunch. We went to Chuckarama and then I had to stall by taking him to Best Buy. We still were going to be about an hour before the party was supposed to start and Nick was getting tired. He wanted to go home and relax, but I had to beg him to take me to more stores. He was so mad, and I felt awful. But as soon as he opened the door, all the anger was gone. He said that he was so surprised that he almost had a heart attack! So the party was a hit and Nick got everything he wanted! I want to thank my Mom and Anna, because without them there would have been NO party! Thanks!
