I got my hair cut!

Last week I decided that I wanted to cut my hair, because I kept noticing all of these girls at school with these really cute haircuts. Most of them had really short hair, but I know that I can't pull off something that short. So, I thought that I would try a short bob. I really like it and it is so much easier to take care of now and Nick likes it too! I know that my Granny hates it when I cut my hair, but I hope that she will just think that it is too cute to be upset!

Calvin's quilt

My mom finished the quilt and sent me pictures. I was very picky about the colors that I wanted for Clavin's room. Everything in the stores are pink and blue and pastel and I didn't like any of them.

I decided that I wanted to use the colors that are the quilt that my mom made me for graduation. The quilt has bright colors of red, yellow, and orange which are my favorite colors and some studies says that a brightly colored baby room might actually help with development, so that is a plus! My mom is also making the bumper and the sheets! I am so excited to get his room set up with everything! Nick likes it too, because my mom used a darker red in the quilt to go along with all of the new Redskins things!

I love this quote...

I was looking through The Great Gatsby, one of my favorite books, and I came across a quote that I really love:

"Whenever you feel like criticizing any one...just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had."
- F. Scott Fitzgerald

It just rememinded me of one of my New Years resolutions which is not judge those around me. I have a big problem with judging people, especially at the beginning of the semester. I have been struggling with this ever since I have been here at BYU-Idaho. When I came here I thought that it was going to be some sort of Utopia where everyone was going to be like me. I thought that everyone would be such good examples to me and that you could just feel the Spirit from everyone. It was such a big eye opener when I realized that it wasn't like that.

This quote just rings so true to me and it makes me so thankful for my parents. I just don't think that they get enough credit for how well they have raised 5 children. I really believe that all the people in the world haven't had the advantages that I have had. Not all of the people here on this campus had parents that pushed them to do their best, but still loved them when they didn't. Not everyone had parents that gave them the love and the guidance that they needed instead of the silly things that they wanted. I just feel like I came across this quote to help me to remember how truly blessed I was and still am because of the advantages that my parents gave me. I hope that I can remember this quote the next time that I want to judge someone.

Look what Nick did!

So Nick came home last night and before he came into the room he said..."It's not as bad as it looks!" Nick always comes home with new cuts and bruises and it breaks my heart. So of course when I see the HUGE cut on his forehead I think the worst and start to cry. I got a better look at it and it is really only a scrape, but it looks like a nasty cut. We put some anibiotic cream on it and he says that it doesn't hurt, so I hope that it heals well. I hope that he will be more careful from now on.
